Small Nerve Fiber Neuropathy
I'm new to the board. I've been suffering with Small Nerve Fiber Neuropathy in my feet for almost 3 yrs now. I had to see many, many different doctors until I finally found a neurologist that was familiar with the disease & had me get a skin biopsy, which confirmed the diagnosis. Because there is no known cause they are calling it idiopathic.
I've been on, I think, about every medication out there used to treat this. Currently I'm on Lyrica, which does seem to mask the intensity of some of the pain the best with the lowest dosage. I'm also on Cymbalta. I still have to take Vicodin two, three times a day though.
I don't feel that it's well under control & I don't know what else to do. I continue to try different doctors, pain clinic's, etc. in an effort to find a better course of action.
One doctor suggested getting some type of shots in my spine. He told me that they are not guaranteed to work, if they do work, could take up to 10 shots to work, are very painful & any relief would probably only last 3 to 6 months. Obviously, this is not high on my list to have done.
I'm curious as to some treatments others of you suffering from this have tried. I do use Capzasin & that also seems to relieve some of the symptoms.
Thank you all for you input & advise.
