Peroneal nerve damage/foot drop, any hope?

In April I had an accident in which I completely tore my LCL and had a small tear to my ACL also had peroneal nerve damage and foot drop. I had surgery in mid April to reconstruct the LCL, Doc said that we would wait and see how the ACL felt after healing from the LCL surgery. While in surgery, Doc said that the Peroneal nerve was intact and not damaged but he removed scar tissue as he felt that was the reason for the foot drop. My first check-up after the surgery, the Doc seemed shocked that I still had the foot drop but stated that it would take time for the nerve to heal. My knee is good and I don't think that I will need surgery for the ACL as I am walking and have no real issues. My problem is the foot drop. I am wearing a AFO during the day to assist in picking up my foot to walk. My question is, is there any one else out there with the foot drop issue? I understand that it takes a very long time for the nerve to heal however, I want to know if any one has any success stories with the peroneal nerve healing?

When this first happened, I could not feel anything from the right side of my leg (I injured my right leg) to the top of my toes, now I have feeling at the top, near the knee, and it seems that I am regaining feeling, slowly, down the side of my leg. Recently, I have started to feel an icy cold feeling creep down the side of my leg where the nerve is. Is there any hope? Thanks in advance!
