I'm new to the boards here, but glad to be here. I was suffering alone and not too many people understand what it means to be in chronic pain. I have read several stories and can relate to them all. I'm learning that my pain isn't just imaginary because others are experiecing the same symtoms. I want to thank all who share their stories because it helps people like me. I thought that I was going crazy with all the pain occuring in different areas. I have new knowledge since my visit here. My pain started with two surgeries and the last one landed me with Neuropathy. I have pain in my knees, leg, foot, first toe, right hand, shoulders, and my back. I have appointments lined up to solve the issues, but glad to see that others are speaking out. Looking at the other posts I have a thought that Neuropathy must be able to spread to different areas, but why doesn't the doctors acknowledge this?
It for sure does take some time to find the right doctor for you..I'm on #4 and have seen him off and on for the past 3 or so years...I've done all he wanted to test me so that he can find out why I have PN ie spinal tap/removal of the ankle nerve for a biopsy....sadly there is not an answer yet so might be looking for #5.
It for sure is something that can bring you to your knees both physically and mentally....BUT we must try and keep positive...stay strong and do our best to NOT let PN beat us...believe me I know it is tough and have my bad days where I don't want to talk or deal w/anyone...but know we too deserve to live good lives...go out and have fun not sit at home and stare at walls.
Hang in there and KNOW you are not alone...and us all talking here is for sure a positive thing.
Hope you have a pain free day.

The best thing is to not give up like you said!! Thanks for your response!! Sometimes I think these doctors order all these tests for other reasons unknown, but I have some idea. Keep looking until the right doctor is found. Hey live in Arizona as you can see so we're close. Hope you feel better!!
I'll tell ya...I hate going to the doctors like most...BUT get so depressed going to the Neurologist...I'm tired of them making me push w/my hands and feet..walk around the office...FOCUS Dr...doing all of those things are STILL hard...and getting told they can't do anything more for me and what pills do I want.
We all MUST continue to find answers we want and try to be as positive as possible...KNOWING we will sadly all have those "bad" days.
I didn't notice that...I live in NE Phx but work in Mesa...the drive sucks LOL
I hope you had a great weekend and have a pain free week.
You're right, trying to stay positive is not always so easy and we can only do the best we can, especially when in pain. Coming to the boards makes me feel better, but at the same time, sad to see what people have to go through in order to get the help needed. I'm trying not to lose it because I feel the system is failing so many people and myself included. How are you feeling today? I live in Phoenix too, but lived in Mesa when I moved here in 2005. Small world!!
We for sure can only do what we can...some days are better then others but on those bad we must just take it more easy even if we don't want to. Don't risk making the condition worse or trying to do something you know your body won't be able to do...for me on my "ok" days walking up stairs is VERY hard..on my "bad" days I don't even try...don't need me taking a tumble.
WE have to try and work the system the best we can. That said do NOT settle...fight for yourself to get the best possible care we can.
Hope your Tuesday is good and the rest of the week is better.
I'm not sure what you mean by work the system? Can you clairify for me so myself and other members don't get the wrong idea? I'm sure it's just a choice of words, but we need to have a clear understanding, please explain!!
Oh! I understand you better now!! My referal came from my Primary care Doc. If you like any of your doctors and feel they have your best interest at hand then ask for a referal because sometimes finding a good specialist is challenging. Have a good day!
