I have been suffering with facial pain for almost 20 years. I have tried every medication out there and find that opiates help the pain better than everything else. However, about a year ago I went to a new neurologist who tried a nasal spray of ketamine/lidocaine 2.5/4%. When the pain is terrible, I spray it up my nose and it numbs the pain for about half an hour. Sometimes it works longer. It's great for when the pain is unbearable. I recommend it highly.

Congrats on the new med that has helped you so much Karen, I know that is HUGE when you deal with the type of pain most of us do on this board day in and day out. Probably as you can tell the majority of folks on here deal with a lot of nerve pain in their feet, legs and hands. Do you believe that this med would also be of help to those of us that have it in our extremities?? I would be very interested in your opinion Karen and I realize its just your opinion. Again Karen, a big congrats on the new help and thanks so much for sharing, have a great day.
Hi Captinsane1 - Ketamine is often an ingredient in cremes that can be obtained by prescription from a compounding pharmacy. There are online compounding pharmacies where you can check out the different mixtures that are compounded to treat neuropathic pain. There is probably a compounding pharmacy in your area too. - Ruby
