Hi, I am in a mysterious stage of this journey. NEW: My eyes are so blurry in the evening & in the morning. I know I have dry eyes but this bluriness is constant, drops of artificial tears do not help.
My feet are huge, my ankles are huge with overlaping skin. The feet are locked in with my leg. I do not know how to explain the feeling of my feet. I walk very strange like I am marching. I don't know what to do, its painful ++ & hard to walk.
I have an appointment next week with the Dr.
Also do I now stop & accept my diagnosis of non systemic vastulic neuropathy & SFN or continue to keep checking with new Doctors for there diagnosis. In any case there is no cure so you just keep going on with life the best way you know how?
I took that glucose tolerance test and my sugars were normal. So I am not diabetic.
My hands are tight and will not bend easily.
I have to go now as the pain in my feet is so intense. I can't take the pain!

Whether you stop and accept your diagnosis or seek out another is up to you and only you can make that decision. One nice thing about staying with the doctor you have, is if you have been with them for a while now may be the time to discuss pain relief. Lyrica and other such medications do much in the help of pain control but they are sometimes not enough and we need to get other pain relief.
I was lucky as my doctor approached me about this option. It can be difficult to discuss with your doctor as they may believe you are "drug seeking". I myself do not like taking pain medication but it keeps me going.
Good luck June.

June89, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. Are you feeling like your diagnosis was not correct? Have you gotten any second opinions? I wish you the best on your journey, or the best that can be given in your condition. I hope you can find a way to improve and seek out something to help ease your pain whether that be gentle exercise, PT, or pain meds, or a combo of all three. I'm not an advocate of medicine, but if you need it, you need it and it can be beneficial to your health.

Is there some medication that you are taking that might be giving you such dry eyes?
I really hope your doctor can solve this for you!!
I personally am not sure if my diagnosis is 100% correct- but it seems to make it easier for me to give up the searching and going from doctor to doctor, and accept that this is the hand I have been dealt with. I've come to the acceptance stage.
I walk like a duck, rather I waddle. I use a cane, I have swollen hands and feet and my toes don't bend at all. My ankles feel broken, my skin feels like it has been set on fire. But I have RA as well so sorting out what is causing what pains seems impossible...Perhaps it is, like Tingles suggests, time for a frank discussion about pain meds with your doctor.
I was so against pain meds, but my doctor finally said to me "why don't you think you deserve a life without so much pain?" That really made me think!
I was hoping that a vitamin or an herb or an ointment would get me through the long horrible nights. Believe me, I have tried so much!!
Most of us here on this board know exactly what you are saying!! My battle with SFN has been 8 years long! Please hang in there!! It is great that you know that your sugar levels are good!
Best wishes and please let us know how you are!!

Thanks Daisy. In the 8 years that you have had this has it progressed over the years or have you remained the same? I ask this as I am progressing all the time, downhill.
I walk just like you, my toes do not move either.."I walk like a duck, rather I waddle. I use a cane, I have swollen hands and feet and my toes don't bend at all. My ankles feel broken, my skin feels like it has been set on fire" we have so much in common. This makes me feel connected and I am not nuts. The newest thing for me is I can't get up out of a chair.. it is hard to walk once I get up . I have to ask everyone for a hand to pull me up. Sometimes I use my cane. My knees or feet are not working. I don't know where this will lead.. I am worried that I will need a wheel chair soon. I do not want a wheel chair. I am going to the Dr. this week & I am going to discuss pain meds as what I am on is not working to good, my eyes, my strength in my knees and or feet has weakend. What do you where on your feet? I can only where isotoner slippers with open toes & velcro strap. I am getting a shoe with open toes made. Thanks for your help. I will keep in touch. June
