Ankle neuritis from surgery - anyone else have it?
I had arthroscopic ankle surgery last fall and have had neuritis around my ankle radiating down my foot into my toes in several locations ever since. My ankle surgeon recently said that since it hasn't gone away yet it is likely permanent.
In fact, it has been getting progressively worse which has me concerned. I'm supposed to wear ankle braces/splints due to my ankle problems, but I can't tolerate any kind of straps going across the front of my ankle as it causes nasty nerve pain and numbness.
I really don't know much about neuritis other than it's an inflammation of some nerves.
I'm having a spinal cord stimulator trial implant next month for failed back surgeries, and my pain management doctor said it would work wonders for my ankle neuritis as well.
I may need to have future ankle surgeries - do you think this could make the neuritis worse yet? Any other information I should know about it or things I should watch out for?
