Caffeine and potassium levels? Does anyone know if caffeine depletes potassium levels? And if it does, how quickly does it get removed/and returned to normal levels? alysee |
Re: Caffeine and potassium levels? No, caffeine does not deplete potassium levels. Your body normally regulates potassium within a very narrow normal limit (around 3.5-5.0mg/dl, depending on the lab), as one of potassium's very important job, is regulating the heart beat. Some medications can cause a low potassium, such as diuretics for high blood pressure (hydrochlorathaizide). Some medical conditions can also change the potassium level. - If you have kidney disease, your potassium can actually go too high. Hope this helps. Leea |
