Unhappy Cramping

Hi Everyone,

Can someone tell me if I'm lacking something in my diet? I'm a 57 year old female. I get really bad cramps in my body any time during the day. It started out at night when I wake up with a bad cramp in my feet. I jump out of bed, and It's hard to get my foot to lie flat when I step on it slowly. Afterward, I have the worse cramp in my calf. But, now, I get the cramps all during the day in my feet, elbow, wrist, toes etc..... when ever I bend any of those areas. I had a cramp so bad in my foot at work today I couldn't walk for awhile. I had blood work done a couple of weeks ago and they checked my potassium etc... and everything was normal. Any suggestions of what could be wrong

My Dr. gave me something similiar to Quinine but I hate to take it because of all the possible side affects.

Re: Cramping

Precious55,

My first thought is that you might have an electrolyte imbalance (magnesium, potassium, calcium). Do you eat a variety of fruits and veggies? They are excellent sources of these minerals. Try taking some supplemental magnesium and see if the symptoms subside. I take some on a regular basis, and I take a bit extra when I've been sweating a lot. It really helps when I get foot and leg cramps.
