why can't I eat vegetables? Up until 1 year ago I was a huge veggie eater. Now they make me sick, it is the gas causing veggies that are the usual culprit, but I can not even eat lettuce!
I am gaining weight because potatos, carrots, and green bean are the only veggies for me. I don't have a problem consuming high fat foods usually. Just vegetables! I am so frustrated!
Did anything happen about a year ago that could have altered the composition of your gut bacteria? For example, severe diarrhea? Is it possible that the current gut bacteria you have are more gassy when eating vegetables than the gut bacteria from more than a year ago?
Or is it possible that other changes from a year ago may be affecting it? Perhaps something you started eating then? Or undiagnosed lactase deficiency or celiac disease or some other intestinal condition?
Have you tried reintroducing vegetables one at a time to figure out which ones are still ok? If you suspect that your gut bacteria composition is particularly gassy, have you tried eating plain live culture yogurt or kefir to try to change it more favorably?
Do you have stomach pain and feel full when eating small portions? I too have problems with eating fatty foods and vegetables. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis and ibs. It could be also just that you need to take beano or a digestive enzyme supplement to help digest your food.
