Scary feeling!

I am not sure what is wrong with me. I have been feeling weak, hungry, constant food cravings, tired (at times), dizzy, lack of concentration, and headaches. Whenever I eat a meal I tend to feel better. I've been trying to eat frequently thoughout the day like every 2-3 hours small meals. I find my condition worsens after my usual 1.5 hour workouts at night. I usually have a piece of fruit or a snack beforehand. It's quite scary how I feel and it seems worse some days than others. My diet is as follows on a typical day:
Breakfast-either cold cereal or 1/3 cup of cottage cheese and whole wheat english muffin
Snack-handful of trail mix (nuts, raisins, chocolate pieces)
Lunch-medium sized salad with dry tuna, veggies, edamame
Snack before workout-apple and peanut butter on rice cake
Dinner-1/2 cup of egg whites and low fat mozzerella on slice of wheat toast or english muffin
Snack-Low fat cookies

I usually burn about 500-600 cals/workoutl

Does anyone know what is going on and how to feel better?

Please help!

Re: Scary feeling!

princesa2879,

You may be depleting your body's stores of nutrients by working out too hard and not eating enough. If you feel better after you eat, it is your body telling you to eat more calories.

I suggest eating more "good" fats. Add some olive oil to your salad. Eat some nuts or avocado with your dinner.

Eat larger portions. Make sure you eat a bit just before you work out, and then a regular meal afterwards.

Cut back on your workouts. Or do your cardio on different days from the strength workouts. I get the same thing when I try to do it all in one session.

Re: Scary feeling!

I agree that it sounds like you need to eat more, period. You probably aren't getting enough nutrients. Your feeling worse after working out though did "jump out at me". Today I was diagnosed with very low potassium and was told that working out hard and sweating a lot does make it worse because it depletes your store of pottasium. Some of my symptoms were weakness of my leg and arm muscles, shakiness, an erratic heartbeat from time to time, dizziness and I have even experienced some confusion. Try adding a glass of orange juice to your breakfast and see if that helps at all.
