Don't understand why?

Just found out why for years my pain, fatige, blurried vision, diahrrea, confusion, forgetfullness was getting worse. The Doctor seemed not to listen, I got a new and two weeks ago she ran bld work found I had low vitamin D. My level is 10. My calcium is ok. She did a parathyroid it can back ok. I've been reading everything.

This makes no sense I eat fish, eggs, no milk, makes my diadhrrea worse. I get ouside love the sun-get the rash from it but do it any way. I went and got Vitamin D3 and start takening 10,000 IU aday and called and asked if that was okay. She said yes and would check my levels in 6 months. why is my levels low? And is this enough that I'm taking. And will I have to always do this. Oh 'm 57 .

Gail

Re: Don't understand why?

My vitamin D level was 10 too! I took 50k once a week for 2 months, I was first retested after four weeks and it was only 18, so I continued for another month and my new vitamin D level was 50. My doc said you want your vit D to be at least 30, but I have rheumatoid arthritis as well, and the doc wanted it even higher.

My low D levels came from Celiac disease, an autoimmune intestinal disorder. Despite getting lots of sun here in Florida, my body just was't able to use it.
