For Several months now I have had a problem eating. I dont have anorexia nervosa(which in medical terms means "i think i am to fat, and need to lose weight".) I am the complete opposite! I was so desperate to eat the doctor prescribed me Periactin.
Ive read of ghrelin and leptin to control appetite. Maybe a hormone deficiency?
Any suggestions on what this can be, and what to do?

I had this problem in 2006, very severe. Doctors could find nothing wrong with me. My regular doctor put me on "Megestrol Acetate" which helped a little. It's a liquid.
I personally think I had Lyme disease, because I had the bulls-eye-rash about 6 months before, but test were negative. I also had blood poison during that time. If you ever get very high fever, go to emergency. To this day I still wonder if lyme disease or blood poison caused my extreme loss of appetite back then. 2006 was a very bad year for me.
If you haven't had a blood count taken, then get one. My low appetite was caused by kidney failure. It can also be caused by some medications. Wine is supposed to stimulate your appetite, but I wouldn't recommend that to anyone, not for daily use, anyway.
