Question Zinc deficiency

Hubby was recently diagnosed with Zinc deficiency and while the treatment is helping he is not back to his old self yet and according to the Neurologist probably won't be because of his other health problems. I.e. Subcortical dementia.
Has anyone else had/heard of Zinc deficiency? you can't take too much Zinc supplements or that harms your Copper intake levels and can harm your Liver so he has to be monitored with his Zinc supplements. He used to fall down every day, but since taking Zinc and getting his Zinc levels back up he hasn't fallen once., but he still has memory problems and that has nothing to do with his Zinc, sorry to say. The Neuro said he had not seen such low levels of Zinc in anyone in his 25 yrs. of practicing Medicine. He had to google the Zinc Deficiency to find out if that was the symptoms hubby had and it was! Let me know if anyone has this same disorder.
Thanks in advance.
