Calcium deficiency?

I've had some weird twitching, numbness--fingers, toes, face, muscle cramps, and body jerks (mostly at night while falling asleep). My doctor ran the standard labs and they all came back within normal range, but he thinks I might have a calcium deficiency since I've been mostly dairy free and breast-feeding for over 17 months. He ran a serum calcium test and said that may have not given the true picture.

Anyway, he told me to increase my calcium intake as well as D and magnesium and see if things get better. The problem is, I've been taking a B complex (which he told me to stop taking) and now the numbness in my fingers and toes (which had gone away) has come back again. I've read that with a B12 deficiency, when you start supplementation, it can make the symproms temporarily worse (as your nerves "heal")--is this the case with a calcium deficiency? And, for anyone who's actually had a calcium deficiency, how long did it take to get better? Thanks!
