Hi, the excess weight does lay on your heat and other organs, including lungs(sleep apnea) Think of it this way, if you dont get up and get motivated to get your heart and lungs moving, then they get used to that certain set point of inactivity, and when you finally get up and around it greatly strains these organs because they have to learn to work hard enough to keep your body at peak levels for oxygen and pumping blood throughout you system also.It is improtant to maintain your ideal body weight, and exercise often to keep your systems working properly, low impact areobics, water areobics and just plain old walking are easy ways of decreasing this form happening.
