| Re: I want to be me!
Hi,
We have so much in common, [ removed ] I'm 21, going on 22, and in February (after not weighing myself for some time) I finally got on the scale. I knew that I had gained weight but wasn't sure exactly how much, and anticipated it was higher than my previous high (223lbs at 5'9)...but I was FLOORED when the scale read 255.5 . In the past I would get a rush of motivation after reaching a high weight, and I'd drastically cut my food and increase my exercise. Each time, I lost weight quickly (like 13 lbs in one week, 7 lbs the second wk, 5 lbs the third week) but hit plateaus quickly also (after week 5 I could barely lose 0.5lb per week, and that was when I ate 1200 cals and exercised 6 days a week!!!). As soon as I'd hit a plateau, I'd pretty much lose all motivation and gain back the weight. Well, I'm determined that this will be the last time I need to lose weight. Like you, I find that people also tell me that I "hold my weight well" or when I go to the doctor they put the scale on 150, then 175 and then I'm like "here I'll help" and push it up to 250 and their mouths drop. It's almost funny, but not quite. Being tall and big boned probably has something to do with it (seriously, i am big boned, that's not an excuse) Have you ever considered plus size modeling? It's something I'd like to get into. You can be signed by major companies like Ford and Wilhelmina and make great money. But they want you to be a size 12 or 14 max. Just thought I'd mention it. Personally, I look great at 200 (which is a size 16 for me). At 255.5 I was a 20. I haven't bought any new clothes but my size 20 jeans are big on me. I guess I'm an 18 now. Well, let me know if you want to keep in touch.

Since February I've lost weight, and am now at 231.5 as of a few days ago. I've literally lost 3 lbs per month. And while it's not a whole lot, I have never before successfully dieted for 8 months. I still allow myself to eat what I want, but I do portion control. I count calories (some people mind this, I don't). And I work out at least 3 times a week (I don't kill myself trying to workout 6 days a week like before). My advice is that you don't cut out any food groups (unrealistic), get a good amount of fiber (oatmeal/whole wheat bread), workout 3-4 times a week, and write down what you eat (even if you don't have the patience to count calories, write down what you eat so you can see what food groups you get enough of and which ones you don't. I didn't even realize how much I was eating until I wrote it down.)
