| Recent weight gain - effects on health...
Hello everybody,
I'm 6'5" and must weigh over 300 pounds (not 100% sure on the weight but I was 284 - 20.5 stone - about 6 months ago and am noticably larger now) and I think I've been gaining weight relatively quickly recently (last month or 2)
I was having panic attacks about a year ago, hadn't had one properly in about 6 months until the other day but the anxiety is always there and that, along with the not having done a lot of exercise during the panic attacks (and also some rib issues that I am seeing a chiropractor about) have made me a lot less active than I used to be
But I'd been getting out for walks 3 times a day - I reckon it was a total of about 2-3 miles a day I was walking. I wasn't losing weight, but didn't really feel that I was gaining either
Recently (last week or 2) I notice that I'm getting fat further up my torso towards my chest (whereas before it was pretty much just the stomach area that was fat) and that the fat around my abdomen feels different, almost harder and more solid. But also I find that my exercise is being affected. I keep feeling like my chest is getting tight (though with little-to-no pain) and that my heartrate is a little less stable - basically it feels like the old panic symptoms (which always made me think I was having a heart attack). The thing is I know that (at least last June when I had a stress ECG test) my heart itself is in perfect working order and I don't wheeze or anything when I breathe
These feelings are a lot more noticable after I eat a large meal (and for a few days afterwards)
But everything feels a lot harder to do and my body feels like it's having problems coping with the extra bulk. It's making it harder to actually do the walks that are designed to keep me fit and lose the weight. Since I started getting these feelings I'm doing a Slim-Fast-esque diet to try and lose the weight while still getting all the nutrients, vitimins and minerals my body actually needs so hopefully that will help
But basically I was wondering (yeah, long post for such a short question) would weight-realted symptoms present themselves in this way (the 'tight' chest with no pain, the seemingly 'erratic' heartbeat, the solid feeling of the fat) without presenting proper wheezing/chest pain or am I more likely to be slipping back into the anxiety/panic-related body responses?
