Let's get motivated..

Hello All, I am an overweight female weighing in the 200+ range, and like many others I am just tired, but you know what I'm not giving up because I feel that everyone that is suffering from this has to have faith, I hear a lot of sob stories here like everyone just have given up the battle of the bulge. I know that this is the best place to air all of your grievances about this issue but there comes a time in our lives were we have to take control of ourselves we own our bodies and we can't let food dictate whether we will be skinny, fat, healthy or not, we have to discipline our bodies just as we have to discipline any other situation in our lives that may put us in harms way. If you had mace in your hand and a thug tried to rob you wouldn't you spray him until the can was empty. ''Get it''- The robber is the food, but the food is robbing us out of so much more than valubles, it's robbing us out of our self worth. I'm not saying we should starve ourselves, the only thing that I'm saying is that over eating and bad choices of what we eat is robbing us out of a thinner lifestyle that we really want to be apart of.

On a ligher note if you were to magically become thinner what's the first thing you would do that was FUN???? For me definitely Go shopping....

Re: Let's get motivated..

Hello, great post! Like so many other things in life, one's weight and image has alot to do with your attitude. Just a couple years ago, (maybe even a year and a half) I too weighed in excess of 200 lbs. I was always tired, had no energy, had to buy large, unattractive clothes to fit in, and had low confidence and self-esteem, partly as a result. Well, I had enough of that, and I started to take control of my life, work out on a regular basis, stop touching the crap like pop, chips, etc, and attempt to make a positive difference.

For me, thats all it took, a little determination and will power. Now, I am under 170, according to the scale Im down to some 167, thats almost 40 pounds lost in about a year, and I didnt do anything drastic like crash diets or the like! Just work out and have some self-control and whatnot. I now have so much energy, enthusiasm, and zest for life! Where there were once flabby arms and legs are some real definition. I had to buy an entire new wardrobe ( a good thing), and can dress sexy, with style and class - I get compliments all the time, from young and old, male and female. I am even now starting to attract beautiful women to my side, whereas before they wouldnt give me the time of day!

Anyways, hopefully this is the right place for a post like this, but I felt I wanted to share my success story with others, maybe give some motivation! All I need to do is look at some pictures from a few years back to see how drastic it has been! I guess my main point is, working out 3+ times a week, etc etc, may seem like so much at the start (and it is!) but trust me, hold the fort for a few months and you will not want to stop! After a while, working out becomes addictive - it gives you so much energy and positive vibes! And, I have not given up on junk food or comfort or what not - I usually have a 'cheat day' once a week where I still eat stuff like pizza, chips, etc, and will ocasionally indulge in a snack like an iced cappucino or something, occasionally go on a good drinking session, but moderation is the key. I was so lazy and pessimistic in so many ways, but now I have made so many positive changes to my life, I hope people reading this can too!

Re: Let's get motivated..

That's wonderful mike , I know for a fact that you feel like a whole new person, I am really putting my all into becoming leaner and healthier as well, I just don't want to sit around feeling sorry for myself because that's only going tact on other issues that I don't need, This is so great to finally hear a response from someone that is so motivated and determined to take control over their body and actually use self-control when it comes to what and how much you eat, Thank-you sharing your great story, that's a reassuring feeling that when I am at my ideal weight that I will continue to look forward in life and not back wondering if someone is saying some derrogatory about my weight. Thanks for your post.

Re: Let's get motivated..

Hi Admired1,

No problem, I am glad I can help out even a bit with a post like this! Good luck in your quest - it seems as though you have the most important thing down, and that is attitude. Once you have set your mind into a positive framework, then anything can be done with the right level of determination. If someone didnt have that frame of mind, then attempting to make changes would be for naught, because once could work out for a month or two, say things are not happening fast enough, and then go back to square one. So Im glad you know that, too - stay positive, realize that it may take a while to get there, but once you do, it will be amazing. The 'comfort food' wont even be a factor anymore, because when you look and feel good, and once you finish up at the gym, you wont want to even look at a bottle of Coke or a bag of chips, things like that even become a subconscious matter.

Good luck to you, and to everyone else out here!

Re: Let's get motivated..

Mike & Admired1,

Great posts. I WISH that it went that way with me, but it didnt. I posted also under (just had gastric bypass) recently. I used to LOVE to work out. I attended step classes, kickboxing, I worked out with cardio and weights nearly every day. I had a trainer, I ate right, and everything. It took me over a year to lose something like 20lbs. I have been heavy my entire life, including childhood. For me, simply eating right and exercising did not to it for me. No matter what I did, my body would not let go of the weight. Im glad it did it for you. I had to go to more drastic measures and have gastric bypass surgery. That was only 8 days ago. To be honest, I have many regrets, but what is done is done.

I wish you guys the best of luck. Keep up the good work!

Jen
