OCD or Schizophrenia? Nasty intrusive thought voices in my mind - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Message Board

Hi, I was diagnosed with OCD and Schizophrenia a few years back.
My main Symptom is that I hear voices in my mind, not with my ears and they are very nasty.I dont know if these are classified as hallucinations.
I am a Christian and I believe that it is ***** planting his evil thoughts in my mind. He talks to me and we have a dialogue. Please help me. Am I truely schizophrenic or do I just have OCD or both. Can anyone relate?

Hi Joey..my friend has been going through the same thing. She is also Christian. She has been talking to a phycologist and he told her when these thoughts start going through her head, she needs to quietly tell them to go away, then start singing a church hymn that she loves. She said at first it was hard, but with practice she finishes the song and feels much better. The thoughts return and she just sings away, in her head and aloud when she is alone. You mentioned that you were diagnosed with schizophrenia a few years back, youtriendjoey.

I hope you have been able to get into see a psychiatrist on a regular basis.

Nowadays, they have so many medications for schizophrenia. So don't give up hope.

A friend of mine has it as well, and he said it took him 5 YEARS to finally find the right medication for him to "stop the voices".

Don't give up hope and if the current medication isn't helping you, try others. My friend's life has changed around dramatically for the better when he was put on the medication that was right for him.
