Completely taken over life

I was just wondering, how many other peoples Obsessions have taken over their life completely??? Because no matter how hard I try I canot shift these thoughts, I dont think Ill ever be able to think 'normally' again.

Re: Completely taken over life

Hi LucieAnna,
I know exactly what you mean! My thoughts are racing constantly when I'm trying to focus on other things. I feel like I wear myself out just thinking about things. I have been lookingfor sme kind of natural herb to help. Recently I've tried meditating to slow my thought down and it has helped. It just seems like such an effort to get myself to rlax. What are your constant thoughts about?

Re: Completely taken over life

Lucieanna: I look at o.c.d. now as similar to getting a very bad infection or virus, i.e., it usually starts out small, grows, and then continues to grow to the point where it can limit your whole life.

I am not sure what steps you may be taking, but there are many things you can do, i.e., read everything you can on the disorder; get help from a psychiatrist and psychologist; find an o.c.d. support group in your area; and doing exposure and response prevention. If your o.c.d. is really bad where it has totally disabled you, there are very reputable in-patient treatment programs you can go to.

Again, it is like getting a bad infection, but if start using these other resources, you can get rid of it.

Re: Completely taken over life

Thanks for your replys. The thing is, I'm not sure that I have OCD because I have none of the compulsions or anything just all these confusing thoughts that I cant even begin to explain properly. I obsess over the thoughts of having a mental illness and just having this 'feeling' in my thoughts or this. Thats the only way I can describe it. Ill be concentrating on something else and then Ill remember it and I have this constant sort of ache in my head and i have to take deep breathes to try and get rid of it. Sometimes Ill be fine and think that lots of people go through this and ill be ok and then sometimes (quite alot more than the good thoughts) Ill think that nobody else I know has had this so Im going mad and I will never budge these thoughts. Ive been ok for the past week because I was at school but now its the holidays and today was alot worse. Now im facing 7 whole days with this just contsantly going over and over in my head.

Re: Completely taken over life

I know what you mean. I don't think I have OCD either because I too don't get the compulsons. Just the obsessions and it seems to be different to other peoples. But I do think that if I do get over all of this I'll come out of it different. Stronger, maybe, but also I'd be changed, possibly like you said in the way that I think.

Is that what you meant?

Take care.

XxX
