Well everybody, I finally broke down and told my wife about my OCD. She did notice things through the years we have been together, but did not suspect OCD, or at least not to the degree I have it. I really worked hard at hiding it.
She was extremely understanding, but I know she does not understand exactly the effects and how serious it is.
Next step, telling my doctor and getting treated.
Does medication stop the obsessive thoughts ???? Do most doctors prescribe meds or do they refer you to a phychiatrist who does. What can I expect ?
Please reply.
I know in the UK, if you see your GP he/she will usually prescribe medication for you, or maybe set u up with a therapist first and then talk about medication. Most SSRI's are good at surpressing the obsessions ..... but sometimes it can be hit and miss with finding the right med for you. You've just got to keep trying though.
