OCD Treatment: Therapy, Medication, or both?

I was just curious how any of you out there are being treated for OCD?

I've done a lot of therapy in the past without medication and it helped a lot, recently I've been venturing into the medication area of treatment to see if it can help improve my current condition.

I'm interested to know if any of you have had success without medication at all (I did a few years ago when my symptoms were very bad and I was reluctant to take medication). I'm also interested to know if you have had success with medication alone and without therapy. Third, I'm interested to know if you are doing a combination of both treatments. Medication and Therapy seems to be the most common and best way of treatment but I wanted to see what approach some of you are presently doing or have done in the past.

Re: OCD Treatment: How many people don't take meds?

the only meds that help sometimes are the antidepressants, no other meds seem to do much at all for OCD

Re: OCD Treatment: Therapy, Medication, or both?

Hello there. CBT can help specifically in reducing anxiety about certain thoughts. It's definetely a strong compnonet to treatment. Medication is also highly beneficial as it "clears the mind" so to speak and reduces the frequency and intensity of obsessions and compulsions. Perhaps check out the different medications out there and see if one works for you.
Best of luck
