Should I talk to my doctor about it, or go directly to a therapist? If the latter is recommended, can anyone recommend a good directory in which to search for therapists? Thanks a lot!
Finding a good therapist isn't always easy, and can be limited sometimes by where you may be located. I would suggest the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation. They can provide you with a list of specialists in OCD. Also, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America can also provide a list of some specialists. I would try to contact either of them if you have any trouble. Good luck, the good news is that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and/or Medications have been proven to work and really help OCD and other Anxiety Disorders.
