Friend bites her nails badly
Hi,

a good friend of mine bites her nails really badly, right down till theres almost nothing left, then she picks them with a pin to get some more. I personally dont mind, i think its a cute habit sometimes, but i'm worried she will hurt herself, even though she says it doesnt. Does any other girls here bite their nails badly, is it just a habit, should I get her to stop?

Your friend probably has what is termed compulsive skin picking, also known as dermatillomania or neurotic excoriation.

A small percentage of o.c.ders have this, but it is not classified as o.c.d. per say.

there was a bitter tasting liquid that could be painted on the nails, perhaps its still available

chewing gum may suffice
