OK, this is a weird one - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Message Board

I went to a garage sale today, and I found an antique chair. I purchased it for $50, it is in perfect shape, and came out of a church. It is worth around $500. I was soo excited, I went to my friend's house to show her. On the way there, a thought popped into my head. I got the thought that because the chair is an antique, it might have a "spirit" attached to it. Now, I realize that that is not true, I do not believe things like that, but I really began to panic. Then I began to fear that I truly have lost my marbles. Can anyone give me any advice?? I am really embarrassed to even post this, but it really is bothering me. Am I crazy???

I don't know, I can relate to that though. I asked my mom to cook me some Spaghetti-Os and while she was making it she disagreed with me on something, so I assumed that she might've poisoned my soup. I went outside and paced around, trying to tell myself it wasn't true. I almost refused it (I ate it

Thanks for the quick response, I am really worried that I am going crazy, lol. I really wish that this negative thought would go away. My brain is now stuck on this, and I can feel myself panicking. What is wrong with me??

Why don't you sell it? If it's worth that much, and also you won't have to deal with a spirit...
I've had something similar to the poisoned obsession. I went through a period of time where I would not eat anything anyone else had prepared. I had to do it, from start to finish. I'm not sure if I thought I was going to be poisoned... maybe I was just afraid something unclean was going to go into it, like hair or something. Although I'm not traditionally a germ/clean obsessed obsessive-compulsive...

If you want to keep it and get rid of the obsessiove thinking - could you try blessing it with some type of holy water????
