Help me please!!im just eating a little but gaining weight all the time because of risperdal and celexa!!!!what are u guys doing to prevent this???

I gained 20lbs on celexa! I had to go off!!! Everyone reacts different to these drugs. My doc asked me if i wanted to mentally feel better? Or gain a few pounds? Well the weight gain was making me depressed! I just quit smoking...... I also have very poor body image, depression, OCD, bipolar, eating disorder, and ADD!!! So, i recently have put on some weight.....and i am FREAKING OUT!!! To top all that off im on total bed rest (?til mid july) from some surgery that im not healing from! I worked out 6-7 days a week! My phyciatrist put me on Lamictal 3 months ago....im on Wellbutrin and Buspar as well. Lamictal takes 1-2 months to feel the effects. I feel a very SLIGHT difference. Not enough though. Good luck in finding the "right" drug that will help you. It's just trial and error.......

Yes, everybody has a different reaction.
The risperdal to me seems like the more likely culprit than the celexa, but it seems other people have gained weight from celexa too. Have you started both drugs at the same time?
Do you feel slowed down, less energetic?
Do you exercise?

I am on Prozac and have not gained any weight from it, but other people I know have.
Maybe for you a different SSRI would not make you gain weight.

Kathrin,I started risperdal a few months later.And yes i feel like ive lost my all energy.and i feel depressed,ill talk to my doc for this.i dont exersise at all.i know i must from now on,before i was so thin and i would eat but couldnt gain weight but now i dont eat and i feel like a baloon after eating.
