Chest Pain & Anxiety - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Message Board

I have noticed an increase in chest pain lately. I sufferd from horrible chest pain towards the end of the winter season last year. I saw a Cardiologist. I had testing done like EKG, ECO CARD. (I hope I spelled that correct) done last winter. They were unable to find any heart related problems. I concluded it probably had something to do with my bronchitis I was fighting. Now the pain is back...No bronchitis! Anyone with OCD experiences a GREAT deal of anxiety. I never had problems with chest pain ever. I have had OCD for 11 years now. There are times when the chest pain really irritates me. I know I'm not having a heart attack, but it sure feels like one (not that I ever had one

). Anyways, I was wondering if anyone out there with OCD also experiences this chest pain??? Also, is it related to OCD Anxiety???

Hi Angel...
I was told that my chest pain was from anxiety. And from what I have heard its not all that uncommon. I was also tested for a many "chest" related things. I had also found a lump in my breast and they thought that might be the cause. But in truth I think for me its just the anxiety and the panic attacks. Whenever I start to feel stressed the pain starts. And it can be scary cuz I always worry that it might be something else.

Angel, Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I too get chest pains. I can usually feel it when the anxiety starts building up. My chest feels very heavy like someone is putting a 20lb weight on it. I also know what you mean about it feeling like a heart attack as well but it isn't. It's the anxiety causing it and it is very uncomfortable. I also get it in my head as well. It feels like my head is just going to explode and this also is very uncomfortable. This also is just the anxiety and me trying to resist bad thoughts.

Me too. I have arthritis in my costal joints, so I never know what is going on. I had an echo done in May and just had an EKG last week. My doctor, who is the first to take my worries seriously, gave me Ativan .5mg to take the next time it starts up. I have yet to take it. She has me on Zoloft 50 mg daily. I am doing pretty good on that. Most of my obsessions have stopped. Some still hound me.

i'm with you too..i'm on zoloft for anxiety/ocd but these last few days i have felt chest pains. in feb. i thought i was dying ( i have that a lot ) and had a chest x-ray, ekg..blood work and it was ruled as anxiety.

i can totally relate too..best of luck, starry
