Re: what is real

I had the same concerns when I started treatment...normal is a funny word, and your perception of normal can change from day to day, minute to minute, or even second to second...there is no general "normal"...only what is "normal" for you. Before I started treatment, I was a trainwreck. There were times I couldn't go to work, I couldn't care for my child, I couldn't care for myself. I had good days, too...but this sense of dread was with me all the time. My therapy and medication have allowed me to find myself again. I can do things I can enjoy, and I'm not quite as scared to try new things. My treatment didn't change who I was, and it hasn't made my obsessions and compulsions disappear- but it has lessened them, and helped me deal with them...you may find you've been doing things you don't want to do anymore, and you may find things you haven't been doing that you want to try. You'll still be you- but with the right combination of treatment, you'll be able to *enjoy* who you are

Re: what is real

i feel the same way, which is a big part of why i refuse treatment, but you have a pesonality, just like i do, your OCD doenst make you you, though it is a part of you, its the kind of part you can replace if need be.

you should try alot of new things, decide what you like, dont like, and what you want, and befor you realize it youll know exactly who you are again, you always knew, you just need a little reminder after such a change
