Well, technically, you don't need to go for treatment of any kind unless it is actually interfering with your life. That's a key diagnostic criteria of having true OCD- that it disrupts your everyday actions. Anyways, since you have overt compulsions, I'd say that CBT would be much more effective, especially since you have a mild case. Medication is usually reserved for those of us who CBT alone is not effective, in other words, pure obsessionals like me. And besides, you don't want to take unnecessary meds and deal with potential side effects unless you absolutely have to. In no way am I bashing psychiatric medications! They are a necessity!
