| | Can intense aerobic exercise offset the sexual side effects from SSRI medications?
My pdoc said 30 min. of solid aerobic exercise 4-5 times per week is a good way to combat sexual side effects of SSRI's. He said aerobic exercise is proven to boost neurotransmitters in the brain that affect sexual functioning. He cited studies that showed increased sexual desire and overall better sexual satisfaction among people who engaged in a regular exercise program.
He emphasized it wasn't a cure-all; but that it can partially negate some of the sexual side effects for SOME people.
