can ocd effect your dreams? - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Message Board

I am new to this board and didn't realize that intrusive thoughts were a part of ocd..I was afraid that I had mild schizophrenia. I also have dreams like that, where i do something horrible..sometimes they are so disturbing that I can't stop thinking about it all day or longer and I am afraid to tell my boyfriend what the dream was about because it is so disgusting. Can your ocd effect your dreams? I have been having these dreams since I was a little girl.

yes they can...i had the same things happen to me and after you thing how could i ever do that? well my doctor told me it was your fear of losing control which then made a lot of sense. Do you see a psycholigist? I know that since i have been on medicine i dont have anymore of those thoughts or dreams. Good Luck!

I was seeing a psycholigist, but I have had problems with ocd and depression since I was very young so I feel like I can't realy benefit from talking to anyone anymore[but I am on this board so maybe I am wrong].

I was taking 200mg Zoloft for a long time, but I recently tried to switch to Wellbutrin because I was bothered by side effects of Zoloft. Zoloft definatley helps, but the ocd goes up and down. The ocd is pretty bad now..I don't think Wellbutrin does much as far as ocd? maybe just depression? I wanted to give it a little longer for my body to adjust, I heard Zoloft is very hard to stop taking. Do you happen to have any advice as far as that is concerned?

umm honestly i have no idea about how hard Zoloft is to stop because im on it now i mean i could stop if i wanted to i dont crave it so im not sure. Sorry
