| Typical OCD Obsessions?
I have never been diagnosed (nor evaluated) as/for OCD, but have always wondered if I would be. Do these sound like typical signs of OCD? I find myself doing them very often, ESPECIALLY when stressed.
-Checking alarm clock over and over. I always figured it was a fear of not waking up for class/test/whatever on time and over compensating by checking to make sure the alarm was set 20 or so times.
-Checking locked door to make sure it's "still locked." I always do it and can't seem to stop.
-I find myself counting to 10 over and over throughout any given day. Usually I shorten it to 8,9,10 -- especially if I'm doing something repetitive like walking.
-Spelling things out. This one gets a little weird -- I actually spell things out with my toes as if I'm typing. Hard to explain, but I have blisters on the tops of my toes from doing this. One thing I spell out over and over is the brand name of my TV -- I guess because I spend a lot of time watching it?
-Irrational fear of things like pregnancy. Almost everytime I have sex with my girlfriend, I end up thinking about the chances of pregnancy absolutely nonstop for the next week or so, despite using multiple forms of contraception. This often leads to rather large-scale fights between the two of us, and I know I am being completely irrational.
-Checking the time over and over. When I'm driving I find myself looking at the clock every minute or so until I get where I'm going.
Again, these are a few of my more major symptoms -- does it sound like "official" OCD or something else?
