Welcome Hughley!
This board is great for getting suggestions from other members on how we all deal with having OCD. My OCD started when I was around 12 years old. It started actually at school. I had to keep my pens and pencils hanging over the edge of the desk because I felt if I didn't that my mom would drown. Sort of like the desk was water, and the pencil was her and I had to keep it above water. I got upset when people would walk by and accidentally knock my pencils and pens over, but more importantly I didn't understand why I had to do it.
I've found a good CBT that helps me alot, and combined with Zoloft it helps. I feel that anyone that has OCD should really get into seeing a good CBT because the meds are only as good as the therapy that you receive. It's like getting a new stereo withouth the instructions and trying to hook it up. There's always a way things go, and a place for things, and a reason for the way that we feel, and my CBT helps me to understand why and where these thoughts come from.
Welcome again!
