I've had this problem for about a month where I am always aware of my swallowing and can't take my mind off it most of the time. I always have to think before I swallow which leads me to do it more often, it's just so annoying and sometimes distressing, at the moment I feel like there's no way to overcome this problem because it is a normal bodily function, but having to think about it all the time makes it worse. The only way is probably just to forget about it but it's so hard to do. I'm seeing a psychologist and doing therapy at the moment so hopefully that will help. Has anyone else had this problem or any tips on how to control this sort of habit.?

Hey Jason

I have not exprienced it personally, but my Dad did. This whole swallowing deal is actually very common and is of course tied to anxiety.

I can understand how distressing it can be, as I witnessed it happening to my Dad first hand. The psychologist and therapy is the way to go, just as my old man did, and combined they will help you through this. It may take time, but you are on the right track.

I think I should draw your attention to a lovely lady who posts under the name of Dannic1. Her thread is 'is this OCD'.

She suffers from this very same problem, you may like to read her thread on this, and maybe answer her on her thread.

I am sure you will be able to relate to each other.
