need help with bullied child w/ OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Message Board

This is my first time on this site. I really hope I can get some help.
I have boy/girl twins 14.5 years and one boy 12. all three have adhd/add, boys have odd and male twin has OCD. My male twin,Kyle, also has growth hormone dificiency so he takes shots. He is bullied on a daily basis at school. Sometimes he comes home so upset he thinks he will explode. His OCD consists of making sure people are still his friends and still like him, cleanliness such as, was the contoler before anyone plays ***********, and washes his racing ATV meticulously. Please, I need advice, my heart is breaking for him. His twin sister is very popular and has no sympathy AT ALL.

Oh Cheermom -

My heart just aches for you.

I have 11 yo boy/girl twins. My son has Asperger's and OCD and my daughter has Tourette's and OCD (and maybe ODD as well).

My son was bullied every day at school and, two years ago, it was so bad that he didn't want to live any more. That's when we found ourselves on the road to his Asperger's diagnosis.

Once we had that, I was able to demand the school protect him (by law they have to). His whole world was better. They were not allowed to put any of the abusive kids in class with him and the lunch/recess staff were required to protect him on the playground. Needless to say, I was in constant contact with the school and reported EVERY incident.

Depending on how your son feels, you can have the school use his classmates to help him! They can turn it into a positive thing for him where the other kids understand what he's experiencing and "look out" for him. Most kids embrace this kind of role. We've got kids at our school who have some pretty serious disabilities. THe students embrace them and make them feel support and encouragement.

The biggest part is getting the school onboard with you - no matter how you handle it. They have to protect him!!!!!!!!

My daughter doesn't have any sympathy for her twin either...sigh...

ps my older son (with ADHD) was bullied for years, the school did nothing and he finally ended it by popping one kid in the nose... I'm not advocating anything, it's just the difference between the school doing nothing in one case and then having to take care of it by law in the other.
