| Re: Need advice about ocd
Yes, this sounds like part of your OCD to me. It is common to have harm obsessions connected to your children - this is because it is really sometihing you would never do or want to do. That is why your brain caught the thought and stuck onto it. I was sexually abused as a child and I believe this is where my OCD stems from. You know how hard it was to go through that as a child and you yourself would never want to do that to someone else - OCD often picks on our biggest fears. EVERYONE has these thoughts, but most people just blow them off and think - thats silly. But to those of us with OCD, unfortunately, our brains sort of "overheat" and "misfire" and keep repeating the thoughts. Are you seeing a therapist or are you on meds? If not you may want to try that ..... or you could get a book like the Ocd Workbook which I am reading now that really helps you understand the disease and gives you ways to re-work the thinking process. There are examples of the same obsessions you are experiencing in that book. Hope I helped a little!
