ocd making me have thought is is schizophrenia

So I know a lot of us with OCD have intrusive thoughts of harming others or ourselves. I am one of those people that are deathly afraid Im going to go crazy. Hence the panic attacks and anxiety attacks. And of course my fear is Schizophrenia.

So here's the dumb thing i did tonight. Im searching around this board because of my anxiety issues and seeing other boards with that relation and I come across the schizophrenia board. and Im like oh no better not go in there I'll start telling myself I'll have it. But I couldnt stay away from it. i was obsesses and the compulsion was to go in. I read some things and Im happy to announce. I dont hear voices, or see things. I dont think Im a prophet or that ***** is talking to me ect.

But getting to my point. anyone else scared to death they are going to "develop" schizophrenia? I hear my own thoughts a lot and i know it's me and of course its me saying and hearing the ocd bad thoughts but im afraid and get paranoid it's not and it's schizophrenia.

And now with my panic/anxiety attacks it makes worse like what if im crazy

Re: ocd making me have thought is is schizophrenia

Its funny because with a lot of mental disorders, they sometimes blend with each other depending on the state of mined you are in. first does anyone in your family have schizophrenia? If not, then you should be fine. I know when I was younger I did hear voices once in a wile, but I could barley understand them, it started hearing someone calling my name. I heard people talking and I didn't understand it.. I was also very paranoid, thinking there were cameras in my house… lots of different things, and guess what? I don’t have schizophrenia. If you did have it, you wouldn’t be able to diagnose it.

once for me, people would walk by and laugh, I would think they were laughing at me and I was tempted to go after them and accuse them, but I knew if I did, how crazy I would look. The difference is, if you are skitzo you don’t know the things you are doing is crazy, so you do them, if you know it is, then you may just be sick at the moment,Or you might be experiencing spiritual things you don’t understand at the moment. but its not so bad that you are out of control. Someone would know you had it, like a family member or a dr. and most ppl with it don’t care for them selves, don’t shower and never brush their hair, so there would be LOTS of signs that you were going crazy before you actually go crazy. And once you do go crazy and you are diagnosed the medicine for schizophrenia works well enough to get you out of it. So what’s there to be afraid of, if you have family, you are in good hands. but being obsessed with it is not a problem, its good to learn new things about people. I'm obsessed with lots of issues on this board, I talk to lots of people with lots of things I don't have, just becaseu I want to learn about it. nothing wrong with it. but most of the people on the SZ board don't have it. so don't think you got it because you relate to them.

Re: ocd making me have thought is is schizophrenia

Hi,
This is a pretty common OCD fear, so don't worry about it (lol). Seriously, I mean that if you can label it "oh, that's OCD, not relaity", it might help.
The anxiety over it is OCD, too.
I used to ask my counsellor if I were schizophrenic all the time, and he said if I were, I wouldn't know about it or fear it.
Hope that's a bit reassuring.
I also find that it's best for me to keep away from other boards, or info about diseases. I can catch them all!

Re: ocd making me have thought is is schizophrenia

thats what I was trying to say. I think... only think... that I am a Hypochondriac, because I really do think I have everything. But I also think I am not a HC because I know I really am sick, and I’m not a dr. so I just don’t know what I have or what to do about it.
