| Re: asbestos OCD
I didn't think anything would come of it as this thread is ancient. Therapists can be good, my mum has had several but none of them really worked, and shes had psychologists but they don't seem to do anything either. Hypnotherapy is what shes trying at the moment, but as it all works on the subconcious mind it might take a while to see how it goes, and its £60 an hour (which is about $120), so its not something that we can just keep paying for.
Brake discs are a big thing for my mum aswell. If the car is going for a service or to be fixed, it takes her weeks to get back in the car because she thinks the mechanics might have asbestos dust on them.
Today we had the ceiling fixed, and as it contained asbestos, there was a bit of drama cleaning everything up.
Do you feel ashamed by what you have? Because my mum has told only about 3 of her friends in the last 6 years as she says she's ashamed by it all. I reckon it's better to get it out there more in the open, (not shout it to the world) but treat it as just an ordinary illness - because basically thats what it is.
