Abilify and OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Message Board

My psychiatrist has recently put me on abilify for what he calls "intrusive thoughts" regarding self-harm and mutilation, which he attributes to OCD. <p>

When I looked into abilify on the internet, I was unable to find any information at all on the use of abilify to treat OCD. Does anyone else have any experience or information on this subject?

I was on Abilify for just a month or so but unfortunately I had some major side effects and had to stop. The main problem I had with it was that it made me EXTREMELY restless! It was like I had total ADD and couldn't focus on ANYTHING for any amount of time. I couldn't even sit and watch my favorite programs on TV. It was a horrible experience for me, but I'm sure other people have been helped by it. I hope I didn't scare you! BTW, Abilify is usually prescribed for schizophrenia and related mental illness, but can be used at the doc's discretion.

That was what my question primarily pertained to. All the information regarding abilify I found pertained to its use in treating schizophrenia; I was unable to find any information at all about abilify being used for OCD.

Abilify can be used for OCD. it is a augmentor with an SSRI for resistant OCD.

I tried abilify and lasted 4 days.
It made me so REStLESS I could not sit still for 30 seconds. no joke.
Plus my body temperature went from extreme hot to cold all day.

It might be right for you but was not right for me.

SSRI are not the only drugs that help OCD the AP are just as effective or more for some people.
