HELP!--Best Friend with ROCD
Hi, I dont have OCD but my best friend is suffering from it. Especially ROCD. She is completely convinced that I am going to leave her or replace her.
I was recently in the hospital being treated for bipolar disorder and I made a friend there. She goes to the same university as me and she also suffers from a mood disorder--borderline personality disorder. For me, making this new friendship is good because it is extremely hard for me to make friends.
Anyways, my best friend thinks that whenever I hand out with my new friend, that I have more fun, I talk more intimately and I basically am trying to replace her. Which is absolutely NOT true. Sure Im friends with the girl I met in the hospital but she is nowhere close to being my best friend.
I try to tell this to my best friend and when I reassure her for a couple of hours it usually works but I dont want for her to be upset and thinking that every second Im planning on replacing her. It really hurts me that Im causing her so much pain, discomfort and trust issues.
Basically I was just wondering if anyone here--who knows how it feels to deal with OCD and ROCD--could give me some advice on something I could do to ease my best friends mind. I love her so much and I hate that Im making her upset. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
