Hi
Im new to these boards and ive been an ocd sufferer for six years now .Ive been suffering from rigorous intrusive thoughts for years and are off for quite sometime now . But recently out of the blue ive developed difficulty while sleeping. What happens to me is, i go to bed as usual ,lie there for quite sometimes and wander into thoughts about the day .but when i think its late and i should probably shut thinking and go to sleep , im just not able to do it ...im not able to sink into sleep no matter how sleepy and beat i am ...but i do fall asleep after like 3 hours which leaves me with 3-4 hours more to wake up ....this is making me cranky by day and my head aches in the morning due to inadequate slep ....Anyone familiar with this situation ?

Yes I have had OCD for 15 years, trying to get to sleep with my thoughts racing, waking up exhausted from nightmares, waking up period after 3-4 hours of sleep is very difficult. I have had great success with meditation and relaxation techniques.
Not to that extent, but I do know, if I dont fall asleep with the TV on a timer I can spend 1-1 1/2 hours thinking before actually falling alseep. I wake up constantly and each time it takes forver to get to sleep
My teen has had issues sleeping even with all the med's nothing works but melatonin has is natural I have even been taking it. Just dont get the time release I woke up every hour on the hour and then fell back. Melatonin can be found in natural health store. My friends child is 8 and takes it the child never sleeps and now sleeps great and well rested just dont take it late it can be taken around 8pm unless you are working but not pass 10pm you may have hard time getting up in the am. Hope this helps.
