| OCD and My Relationship
Ive known my bf has OCD for almost 2 years now. When i met him, he seemed fine because he was on his OCD meds. Keep in mind he drinks to get drunk every 2nd or 3rd day i know some people with OCD self medicate with alcohol. 2 months ago he decided to gradually take himself off his meds to see what kind of an effect it would have on him. Now that hes off his meds, hes more cranky, insultive, and just plain insincere and distrustful of me. Last week he went to see his doctor to get some other OCD meds (he thought the first ones didn't work) and he was perscribed ones that cost $180 for 30 pills.
He's angry that they are expensive even though he can afford it. Since he doesnt want to be "ripped off" he wont buy them. I recently fired him from his job (im his employer) because of his insults and unstable behavior. I told him i wont rehire him until he starts taking his meds again. To this he says, "I dont appreciate the ultimatum. I won't be told what to do!" My thoughts are that $180 is a small price to pay for medicine when it comes to my health and wellbeing. Lately we have been fighting alot and i attribute it to his misunderstanding things i say, which i think is a symptom of him not taking his OCD meds. We eventually make up some 6hrs later but its just too draining for me. My friends, what are your thoughts?
