My list of obsessions/compulsions (hooray!)

--Car locked
--Pull hard on doors, sometimes go around twice then one big pull on driver's door
--Parking permit in window
--Dorm room locked
--Garage door closed
--Both screen door and front door locked, pull on them.
--When typing, hitting the ";" key then going back to delete (yes, I did it a couple times just typing this sentence. Here is me ; keeping; them.);
--Clicking my front right teeth, sometimes to a beat
--Back up/down stairs to check things
--Rewinding pretty much everything I watch
--Researching the same thing over and over just in case I missed something
--Rereading lines

And more and more and more, some I'm probably not even aware of.
Sucks, don't it.

It does suck. I can relate with the rewinding thing. I always feel as if I missed something they said xD

I can also relate to researching thing. I'll research something for about three days at a time.

Other Habits:
* I jump right before the microwave beeps. If my feet are on the ground on the first time it beeps, I feel like I missed something or I was late xD
* Doing this thing with my fingers to "wipe off" bad things :P
* Anything can be out of order, except for things you can stack. That means all the lunch-trays in my school after lunch. I actually get up to stack everyone's lunch-trays. Thank goodness no one notices!
* Tiled floors and not stepping on the lines.
* Checking for locked doors.
* Formulating escape plans in case of break-in, assault, etc. (Which is quite fun actually)
* If I touch something once, and I haven't touched it "right" I need to touch it four more times to make it five.

And much much more that I can't think of right now. It's a wonder no one notices me doing things like jumping at the microwave xD

I'm surprised people don't notice a lot of what I do too!
I also do the touching "right" thing--no clue why. Just have to, or something will happen.
Oh, and I count "5, 4, 3, 2, 1" sometimes to see if something will happen at 1.

Re: My list of obsessions/compulsions (hooray!)

I know right? It's ridiculous that people don't notice. I've got this phobia of mirrors, because of all the scary movies stuff. I'm afraid that the mirror-person will do something while I'm not looking. (Even though it's not rational :P) So, what I do is I smile and wave at the mirrors, because that way I'm being nice to them and they won't want to kill me. Stupid right? xD I find it hilarious. Anyway, you know what happens in the public bathroom? This is a humorous summary:

Me: "Hullo mirror-self, how are you today?"
Mirror: *Repeats action*
General Public: "I am not noticing anything, even though it's quite obvious that something is no right."
Me: "It is quite obvious, isn't it?"
General Public: "Oh, I wouldn't know. I'm not noticing anything, remember?" ;)
Me: "Oh, you!" x3 *punches shoulder in friendly way*

I also do this with strangers xD

Me: "Oh, hullo stranger on the street who could potentially assault me! I will smile and wave at you so you will hopefully look for someone who isn't as friendly as me to assault. Oh, and if you're not an assaulter, hullo!" :)
Potential Assaulter: "Oh, no problem my dear. I was going to assault you, but you're just so nice I will let you pass along."
Me: "Oh how flattering, thank-you for not hurting me!" :D
Not-So-Potential-But-Actually-Is-An-Assaulter: "Anytime now. If you ever need to not be assaulted by me, just give me a call." :) *gives phone-number*
Me: "Will do! Thanks again."
N.S.P.B.A.I.A.A.: "You're welcome!"
*a few seconds later*
Me: *calls assaulter*
(You can probably guess the rest.)

That's my life xD

I hope I made you laugh.

Re: My list of obsessions/compulsions (hooray!)

I do many of these things too!
I touch things until it is 'right'
I smile at the mirror because if I don't then something 'bad' might happen
I will NOT let Word spell check my documents!!!! If it auto-corrects my word, then I will delete it and retype it repeatedly until it feels right!
The doors thing...
I will read lines over and over and over again just to make sure I get it.
Teeth clicking!- I didn't even know it was OCD as I have done it all my life!

I love your sense of humour! It's good that we can see the funny side of things! xx

Re: My list of obsessions/compulsions (hooray!)

My list:
-checking doors are locked
-checking oven is off
-making sure my keys are where I left them
-touching things (I don't know why!)
-checking car is in park, locked, doors closed
-rereading things I wrote multiple times (ie. email)
-washing hands
-constant cleaning the house
-cant have dishes (dirty) in the sink
-fussing over how I look
-stacking things in neat little piles
-particular way of arranging things (if it's right it bothers me)
-day to day routines (ie. order in which I do things when I get up in the morning)

Just a few. I enjoy reading about others "habits". I feel more "normal" knowing I'm not alone. At least we are sane! Could be worse I suppose. Been trying to break habits/routines and using ERP as one tactic. At first I go through panics but after a few times - it gets easier. First one I tackled is the car checking thing. But I take pictures to ensure yes indeed the car is in park. So then I can check the pics when I have the thought about what if I didn't put the car in park. Bandaid solution I suppose. Eventually I strive to not take pics as I think this is "feeding" it a bit but saves me from constantly rechecking.

Be strong!

Re: My list of obsessions/compulsions (hooray!)

I used to take pictures too, but then I thought maybe they were deceiving or from another day :/

At my house with my folks I used to take a picture of myself in the mirror so I could see my outfit, and that the outlets were empty. Same with the garage--I would get a shadow of myself on it!
