Thinking about getting on meds for OCD

This ROCD is really kicking my butt. No matter what I go the OCD thoughts won't go away. So I thinking about getting on meds, but as I look online I see they are so many side effects with meds. So can somebody that are or has taken meds give me some info?

Re: Thinking about getting on meds for OCD

Hi there,

I hear you. I'm having the same problem. No matter how hard I try I can't stop thinking.. ever. Anyway, my psychiatrist has recommended 4 drugs to me: Luvox, Zoloft, Paxil, or Prozac to help treat my OCD. Yes, there are side effects.. but unfortunately every persons experience is different because every persons brain chemistry is different. Another issue for people like us is that it often takes the strongest dose of one of these meds in order to actually make a noticeable difference... which in turn increases the possibility of side effects. Again, you won't know until you try. I wish you luck in finding a medication that works for you. It's all about trial and error, or so my psychiatrist says...
