Sounds like a chronic hip bursitis problem.
I suppose its not too bothersome in the daytime?
Find a good, credible, well recommended chiropractor.
You may have a pelvis imbalance that is overworking the hip region and at night when you quit moving about the busae swells.
In the meantime watch to see if it gives you less trouble at the end of a day when you've layed around alot and stayed off your feet.
If the pain is to the side or the rear of the hip (not in front at the inguinal area) then ice pack it for 15 minutes every 60 or 85 minutes during the late day until you go to bed. Ly on your good side with a good feather pillow between your knees, (they're cooler).
