Question read and answer if you have any ideas! :)

Hi, my name is Rachel, I'm new to health boards and I have a question about working out and whether it can stop your periods. I took the winter off from sports and now I'm back in them doing track this spring. We run every day and it is pretty intense for at least me. I usually have irregular periods, however I only get about 1 day of cramps that go away with an advil or midol or something. But recently, I had an entire week of worse than usual cramps and I never got a period and in about a week they went away. I was wondering if this is due to starting to exercise more frequently than I am used to. Answer if you know anything about this or it has happened to you!
Thanks so much,
Rachel

Hi Rach! Yes, exercising CAN affect your periods. I used to weight train 4-5 days a week and I never had periods when I was working out. When I stopped, I was back to having periods, although they were irregular. Probably nothing to worry about but it might make you feel better if you talk to your doctor about it.

Yes, exercise can affect your periods. Just to be on the safe side though, you could always speak to you doctor to put your mind at ease.

Take care!

Rachel, Sorry but I cannot answer the question, since I'm a guy. But I did want to welcome you to the boards. I hope you find it as helpful as I have.
