Post mysterious blood infection

My cousin's daughter (age 15) is currently fighting for her life with some type of blood infection (probably bacterial)that cannot be identified. It has effected her kidneys, heart and lungs. She is in one of the best hospitals in the world and they are running tests, but can't identify the cause. Has anyone every heard of anything like this or do they know if they haven't found the cause in these past three days, what are the chances they will find it? I am curious as right now the family is in limbo as the doctors can't fight it until they know what it is. She is on a broad spectrum of antibiotics until they can pinpoint the one she needs. She was a healthy teenager last week!! Amy insight would be greatly appreciated no matter how small. Pam

Oh my, it sounds horrible!!!!

Can you tell me what tests they have done?

CAn you tell me also, what symptoms brought her to the hospital, and how long they persisted before seeking medical attention?

It might be Typhoid Fever (Salmonella Typhi). Tell the doctors to do a stool or blood check for the presence of S. Typhi. You can look up Typhoid Fever on Google (symptoms, cause, solution, etc...).
