Question Cough

I have had a cough for about 7 months I have been going to the Dr. all the time he keeps saying that I have allergies and keeps giving me medicine to treat them and saying I have drainage and that is what is causing me to cough. I cough ALOT and sometimes think i will not be able to stop, and then I am alright maybe for several hours 2 or so. It is worse at night So I deciced to see another Dr. and he did 2 chest X-Rays and those results made him order a CT Scan and the results showed that I have a ground glass apperance and Chronic Scar Tissue and he said I might think about seeing a Plumonary Dr. I am still coughing in the mean time, I wondered if anyone has any suggestions or has had this before ?? HELP !! I AM SICK OF COUGHING !!

Since the doc found something on the x-rays then your next step is to see the pulmonary doc to see what to do about it. Since the first doc felt it might be allergies then you should also get tested for allergies if you haven't been tested yet and perhaps start allergy shots if you do have some real allergies. In the meantime be sure to use a good antioxidant supplement to help boost your immune system as well as lessen sinus drainage in case this is part of the problem. Once you see the pulmonary doc you might ask him about a script for a narcotic cough medication to help quiet your cough.

HiSuzank. First do you smoke? if you smoke then you should stop smoking if not I remember when my daughter was small about 4 years old she cough every day worst at night time. Her Dr. used to give her cough medicine all the time but she still coughing after I took her to the allergies especialis, the especialis started giving her allergies shorts, after she took the allergies shorts she stoped coughing. But if you take the allergies short and still not working then you should go deeper, because my mom used cough a lot too and have allergies tested and she took so much of cough medicine nothing worked she cough for more then a year after her Dr. find out that she have kidney cancer. I am not trying to scare you but if you coughing for so long then you have to be careful.
Hope you get better soon.

Is there any sputem?
Did the doctor say what the x-ray results suggested in terms of possibilities?

The pulmonary doctor will test your breathing first I think, to rule out things like asthma, pleuresy and Emphysema......

Any granulomas?
