Question chest pain isn't normal, is it?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every once in awhile, sometimes more often than other times, I get a sharp, accute, and rather hurtful pain in my chest area. I am only 20, and don't think any thing is really wrong. But lately, it's been hurting more, and my left hand, arm and leg are aching lately, more than usual.
Does any one have any thoughts to share?

I read your other posts. Your age has nothing to do with weather or not it is a heart problem, and it does sound like it may be. Go back to your doctor, and tell him ALL your symptoms, and insist on getting your heart checked thoroughly. You are taking a risk by waiting, because this could turn into something more serious.

I agree and I do know there is also cartilidge in your chest that is pulled and when pulled to hard like a muscle it can cause bad chest pain. 2 of my friends went to ER's and found the same answer. So it obviously felt bad enough to go to the ER, but clearly it is better to get checked as many times as you feel neccesary until you find out the final answer. If you ever feel dissatisfied with your doc you should change or get a second opinion.

You could also be experiencing a condition called costachondritis which is an inflamation of the cartilidge between the breast bone and ribs. I have the condition and when it flares up it feels like a heart attack, I've gone to the ER thinking it. But you must see your Dr to rule out a more serious threat to your health before looking at other possibilities.
