Hello, just wanted to let all the suffering people out there trying to get off of Paxil. I, after 8 years of taking the prescription drug have finally weened myself off the drug and without any side effects at all this time!!!! I simply weened <extremely slowly> mind you, took me 1 year to do it, but well worth the wait. After 3 failed attempts in the past, I finally told my doctor that I am going to ween myself off this drug if it kills me. Well it didnt kill me, I was taking 20mg every day, then cut myself to 20mg every other day....I simply let my body tell me when I needed a pill. Until I kept going that way until my body simply did not want the drug anymore. I have no zaps or jolts as I did before. No extra anxiety, no lost sleep...no withdrawls whatsoever. I suggest everyone do this, it takes a long time, but trust me, well worth it. Good luck all.

I weaned even more slowly than you did (after several horrific withdrawal episodes), and I'm at 1.25mg at this point. It is worth it, though, isn't it? Congratulations on your success!!

All the advertisements for Paxil say it is not addictive. I'm surprised you had withdrawals. I know all anti-D's need to be titrated if you go off, but out of curiosity, why did you go off of it?

What's up with anti-d's anyways? If you never take them you don't need them right? I mean I kinda think I've got some mental issue, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna go running to a Psychiatrist. Do doctors actually prescribe anti-depressants based on chemical tests or are they just signature happy? I know this isn't the topic but I was kinda curious as to how addictive any of these mind drugs can be. Only cause my dad is on so many of them, and I figure I might be headed there as well. Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude on the original topic

Giving drugs for mental issues is not on chemical tests. There are no such tests. The drugs are given based on symptoms described by the patient or others.

These drugs are very addictive.
If you don't want the drugs, just say no.
But be ready to see a counselor or psychologist for your issues instead.
